Dressing for the Dopamine

Trauma-informed confidence coaching

You’ve spent enough time dressing for everyone else.

It’s time to come home to yourself.

Confidence coaching for women who are done disappearing. We use personal style as a daily practice of coming back to yourself—one small, deliberate, joyful choice at a time.

The turning point

You know something has to change.

Maybe you arrived here gradually. Years of putting everyone else first. Years of shrinking, editing, managing — your opinions, your needs, your wardrobe — to keep the peace, keep the love, keep yourself safe.

Or maybe you got here suddenly. A moment of looking in the mirror and not recognizing the woman looking back. A realization that you can’t remember the last time you did something — anything — just for yourself.

However it happened, you know the next chapter has to look different.

You’re not broken. You’re not behind. You’re not too much or too late or too complicated.

You’re a woman who has been surviving. And you are ready — finally, bravely, imperfectly ready — to do something more than that.

That isn’t a small thing. That’s everything. And it’s exactly where we begin.

The philosophy

What if getting dressed every day was the beginning of getting your life back?

I know what it is to lose yourself so completely that you can’t name a single thing that makes you happy. I know what it is to dress for the room, for approval, for the version of yourself that everyone else is most comfortable with. I know what it is to wake up one day and realize that the clothes in your closet don’t belong to the person you actually are — and certainly not the person you want to be.

I also know what happens when you start getting dressed for yourself. One day at a time. One small, deliberate, joyful choice at a time.

It changes things. Not just your wardrobe. You.

This work combines the science-backed framework of the American Confidence Institute with the lived, embodied methodology I have spent years building and documenting — because I needed it myself before I could ever offer it to anyone else.

It will meet you exactly where you are. It will not ask you to perform healing or manufacture confidence you don’t feel. It will help you build the real thing — grounded in your values, your body, your life — one session, one outfit, one day at a time.

Plainly

Let’s be clear about what this is.

This is

  • Trauma-informed confidence coaching grounded in neuroscience.
  • A safe, non-judgmental space to do the real work of coming back to yourself.
  • Practical and embodied — we use personal style as the entry point because it is daily, accessible, and immediately yours.
  • For women who are ready to invest in themselves — not perfectly, not fearlessly, but genuinely.
  • The beginning of something that belongs entirely to you.

This is not

  • Traditional styling or wardrobe consultation.
  • Therapy.
  • A quick fix or a makeover.
  • Advice about what you should wear to look more acceptable to anyone.
  • For women who want to be told what to do.

The methodology

Six phases. At your pace, in the order your life requires.

Every coaching engagement moves through some or all of six phases. They are a sequence, not a ladder — you are never behind on them.

  1. Permission

Establishing the foundational belief that you are allowed to take up space, have preferences, and dress for yourself without apology.

  2. Play

Lowering the stakes and relearning the lost art of experimentation. For many of us, play was never safe. We practice it here, gently and on purpose.

  3. Define

Finding the language for who you actually are. Your three words. Your through line. The style identity that makes space for all of your beautiful complexities.

  4. Edit

The closet audit, done with self-compassion and without overwhelm. Titrating the process so it supports rather than depletes you.

  5. Deepen

The inner critic work. Naming whose voice is in your head and beginning the slow, nonlinear work of replacing it with your own.

  6. Signature

Finding the statement pieces, the recognizable details, the wardrobe that is so specifically yours that it becomes a daily act of identity.

Underneath all six is a daily practice — the ritual of getting dressed for yourself, consistently, as an act of nervous system care and radical self-return.

What people send her

It starts with one morning you get dressed for yourself.

  • You inspired me. I ordered two “hippie” dresses and some burgundy ankle boots. Can’t do much right now because of surgery, BUT, I have a birthday soon and decided to buy myself a gift. I never celebrate my birthday 🥳 so this is big. AND, I am almost 70!

  • Today I was scared my outfit was “too much” and then I thought of you and decided I can wear it because it makes me happy 🥰

    Heather

  • I love your attitude! The other day, I could not get comfortable in what I thought I should wear to a party at my house. I was so uncomfortable. I thought of you, dressed for dopamine, and had a great, relaxed time. Thank you for the inspiration!

  • I literally asked myself “What would Brit do?” Haahaha and then I wore it.

    Erin

  • Sometimes when the days been hard I come spend some time here on your page. I always feel bolstered. Thank you.

  • I’m so inspired by you! have some gorgeous dresses coming that I never would have worn bc I didn’t want to look bigger. Puff sleeves, shapeless, bright. can’t wait ❤️

  • Brit is such a light in this little community. I’m so grateful to have met her here. She taught me that my goth card won’t get revoked if I want to wear something other than all black if it brings me joy 🥰

    Stephanie

  • YES i think i had you in my ear this morning when i was like “i am not belting this dress, no thank you” SO thank you!

    Devin

  • Love this! Yesterday I wore my organza cape that had been in my closet for a year, never touched, because you inspired me. Thank you!

  • Thank you, Brit! It may sound silly as we don’t know each other well, but you’ve been such an inspiration to me. A reminder to heal loudly, to be myself, and that things will get better.

  • Such a valuable reminder. I put an insane amount of unnecessary pressure on myself to dress to a level that is unsustainable. You are such a force for good. I hope that knowing how much you mean to all of your followers feels good!

The booking promise

Before we even meet, something important has already happened.

The moment you book a session — before you fill out the intake form, before our first hello, before a single conversation about your closet or your confidence or your life —

You have chosen yourself.

You have decided, perhaps for the first time in a long time, that how you live matters. That how you feel matters. That you matter — not in theory, not someday, not once you have done enough or healed enough or been enough for everyone around you. Now.

In a world that is genuinely hard and asking more of us than we were built to give without support, choosing to invest in yourself is not indulgent. It’s an act of resistance.

You will not do this work alone. I will be with you every step of the way — as your coach, as someone who has walked this road herself, as someone who genuinely believes in the version of you that is waiting on the other side of this.

Just by showing up, you are already becoming her. I can’t wait to meet you.

I’m ready. Let’s begin.

Questions

The questions people ask before they book.

Is this therapy?
No. Confidence coaching is not therapy and I’m not your therapist. Our work is forward-focused, practical, and action-oriented — though it’s deeply informed by trauma-aware and neuroscience-backed principles. If you are currently in therapy, coaching can be a wonderful complement to that work. If you feel you need therapeutic support, I’m happy to help you find resources.
Do I need to know anything about fashion or personal style?
Absolutely not. You do not need to love fashion, know anything about trends, or have any existing sense of your personal style. The only thing you need to bring is yourself — exactly as you are right now. We build everything else from there.
What if I’m not sure which package is right for me?
Book The Spark. It’s designed exactly for that — to give you a real experience of the work so you can decide what level of support feels right. Many clients move from The Spark directly into The Foundation or The Return.
What does a session actually look like?
We meet via Zoom, one on one. Sessions are conversational, structured, and grounded in both the ACI Confidence Coaching framework and the Dressing for the Dopamine methodology. Some sessions will be more reflective and internal. Some will be practical and action-oriented. All of them will be specifically tailored to where you are that day.
What is Voxer?
Voxer is a free voice messaging app that lets us stay connected between sessions. You can send me a voice note whenever something comes up — a win, a question, a hard moment — and I will respond within 24 hours on weekdays. It’s one of my favorite parts of the coaching relationship, because real life doesn’t wait for scheduled sessions.
What if I need to reschedule?
Life happens. I ask for 24 hours notice for rescheduling whenever possible. I want this to be a practice that supports your life, not one more thing that stresses you out.

One last thing

You have spent enough time waiting to feel ready.

Ready isn’t a feeling. It’s a decision. And you’ve already made it — or you wouldn’t still be reading this.

Come back to yourself. I’ll meet you there.
